Frequently asked

The questions that belong before the contract.

Location, billing, contract term, the technology, and the question of how you get your data back out. All public, no login and no small print – just like our prices.

Location and data

Where your data sits – and how you get it back out

Is my data ever stored or backed up outside Austria?

No. Your data sits exclusively in ISO 27001 certified data centres in Austria – for backups too, and for replication as well. We are an Austrian GmbH with no US parent, and the place of jurisdiction is Austria.

Are servers and storage run redundantly?

Yes. Servers and storage run in a cluster on Ceph, as do the network components and the internet uplinks. High availability applies to every VM, not just above a certain price tier, and we do not overcommit. How available the services actually are is shown live on the public status page.

Are my backups stored geo-redundantly?

With the standard backup, yes: your cloud VMs are stored geo-redundantly across two locations in Austria – that is built in and costs nothing extra. With the Managed Proxmox Backup Server it works differently: the datastore is yours, and you set up replication yourself – to targets of your choosing, including your own data centre. So geo-redundancy is possible there, but it is not preset. Both routes can be booked independently of each other.

How do I get my data back out?

Your backups are already with you: with the Managed Proxmox Backup Server, only you hold the key. For the virtual machines themselves, write to office@myDataCenter.at – we will provide them as an image that you can load at your own site or with another provider.

What happens to my data after the contract ends?

Your data is deleted once the contract ends. Guaranteed deletion is part of what we commit to, and it covers the backups as well.

Prices, billing, term

What it costs and how it is billed

Are prices shown with or without VAT?

All prices are net, that is excluding Austrian VAT of 20 %. We sell to companies and organisations.

When do I get the invoice?

The invoice goes out automatically in the middle of the month, in advance for the following month, and is due by the 1st. Every price component is listed openly on the pricing page.

Is there a minimum term or a setup fee?

The minimum term is one month and every product can be cancelled monthly. There is no setup fee.

Technology and operations

What you can set up yourself

Can I add storage and resources later?

Yes. You add cores, RAM and storage yourself in the customer area – linear at the unit price, with no setup fee. Whether a change to cores or RAM needs a restart depends on the guest operating system. You can extend the storage for your backups at any time too.

Can I administer my virtual servers myself?

Yes. In the dashboard you create, install, start, stop and delete virtual servers – around the clock and without a ticket. That includes snapshots before every change and the noVNC console in the browser.

Which operating systems can I install?

You start Linux from our ready-made templates – the common distributions are there. Windows and anything else you install from your own ISO image, which you upload yourself.

Can I use private IP ranges?

Yes. The Cloud Computing Platform includes a VLAN of your own – inside it you assign private addresses from the usual ranges to your virtual machines yourself.

Can I combine several resource pools?

Yes. Several Cloud Computing Platforms can be joined into one environment over the same VLAN. NVMe and SSD storage cannot be mixed inside a single pool – but you can order one pool with NVMe and one with SSD and connect the two.

Can I back up my on-premises servers with you?

Yes, that is what the Managed Proxmox Backup Server is for: you add it as an offsite target in your own environment. Encryption happens at your end with your own key, before the data leaves the building.

Can I sync my email to my phone?

Yes. Managed Zimbra Hosting comes with ActiveSync – on Android and Apple devices it usually appears as an “Exchange account” and syncs email, appointments and contacts. The settings are in the knowledge base.

Still an open question? Ask us.

Product-specific questions are on the relevant product page, step-by-step guides are in the knowledge base, and operational questions are on the support page. If something is still open: in the Cloud Check we work out in 15 to 20 minutes whether and how our cloud fits your needs – free and without obligation. And if we are not a fit, we will say so.
