Managed OpenCloud
Your files. Your domain. Your instance.
OpenCloud is the sovereign alternative to OneDrive and Dropbox: file sharing and collaboration on an instance of your own that runs only for your company – with your own (sub)domain, open-source software and data exclusively in Austria.
You choose users and storage in the shop yourself; the instance is set up automatically after you order.

Everything in your hands
A cloud that runs only for you
Not one tenant among many: every customer gets an OpenCloud instance of their own – and keeps users, storage and shares in their own hands.
Your own instance, not a shared tenant
Your OpenCloud runs as an instance of its own – not as a tenant on a shared platform. Your users, your data, your configuration: cleanly separated.
Your own (sub)domain
Your cloud is reachable on your own domain or on a subdomain of ours, such as yourname.my-open.cloud. Your team and your customers work under your name.
Spaces, groups and quota in your hands
You create spaces for teams and projects, manage groups and distribute the booked storage yourself – without a ticket, whenever you like.
Office in the browser – optional
Edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations right in the browser, together and in real time (Collabora). Can be added per user for €4.90 a month.

Provably sovereign
Who runs your instance – and under which law
The operator is myDC Cloud Services GmbH from Krems an der Donau: an Austrian company without a US parent, with jurisdiction in Austria. Your files stay exclusively in Austria, on our server hardware in an ISO 27001-certified data centre.
That means the question of a legal basis for data transfers to the USA does not arise at all. What this means in concrete terms compared with a shared service with a US parent is set out line by line in the comparison further down.
- Operator: Austrian GmbH, not a US corporation
- Jurisdiction: Austria
- No legal basis for US transfers needed – the data stays here
- Audited: ISO 27001-certified data centre, Cyber Trust Austria (2025, renewed 2026)

The difference in detail
OpenCloud compared with a typical shared service
The comparison shows typical features of large file-sharing services with a US parent – to be fair: both are convenient, only one side is provably sovereign.
| Managed OpenCloud at myDataCenter.at | Typical shared service of a US provider | |
|---|---|---|
| Operating model | Your own instance per customer | One tenant among many on a shared platform |
| Address | Your own (sub)domain | The provider’s domain |
| Data location | Exclusively Austria | EU region often selectable; the provider is subject to US law |
| Legal basis for data transfers | None needed – the data does not leave Austria | Data Privacy Framework – the third agreement; the CJEU struck down two predecessors |
| Jurisdiction | Austria | Usually outside Austria |
| Software | Open source | Proprietary |
| Storage | Hard total quota; distribution across spaces, groups and users in your hands | Fixed plans per user |
| Contact | Founding team from Krems, reachable by name and email | Depends on the plan |
Shown are typical features; details vary by provider and plan.
Frequently asked questions
OpenCloud – your questions
What is OpenCloud?
OpenCloud is an open-source platform for file sharing and collaboration, published by OpenCloud GmbH in Berlin. At myDataCenter.at you get it as a managed service: an instance of your own, only for your company, operated in Austria. There is no sales or certification partnership with OpenCloud GmbH.
How do I order?
In the shop: you choose the number of users, the storage and the address – a subdomain of ours or your own domain. After you order, we set up the instance automatically and send the access details by email.
What is the difference between your own instance and a shared service?
With a shared service you are one tenant among many on the same platform. Your OpenCloud instance, by contrast, runs only for you – with your own (sub)domain, your own users and clearly separated data.
Can we sync files locally – like with OneDrive or Dropbox?
Yes. Besides browser access there is desktop sync for Windows, macOS and Linux and apps for iOS and Android; the instance can also be mounted via WebDAV. Your files sit in the file manager as usual – just on your own instance in Austria.
How do we share files with customers who have no account?
With a share link that you protect with a password and an expiry date. Internally you work with shares to users and groups instead – and with spaces when a whole team or project needs a common area.
Where is my data stored?
Exclusively in Austria, on our server hardware in an ISO 27001-certified data centre. myDataCenter.at holds the Cyber Trust Austria seal (2025, renewed 2026).
What does a hard storage quota mean?
The booked storage is a binding upper limit – there are no unplanned extra costs. Within the quota you distribute the space yourself across spaces, groups and users. You add more storage when you need it, from 50 GB up to 5 TB, at €3.00 per 50 GB a month.
Can I edit Office documents right in the browser?
Yes, optionally: you add Office editing (Collabora) per user for €4.90 a month – real-time collaboration included. Also optional: full-text search and antivirus at €0.50 each per user.
Is there a base fee, setup fee or minimum term?
No. You only pay for users and storage, with no base or setup fee, cancellable monthly. Paid annually, a year costs eleven monthly prices instead of twelve.
