Both run on the same foundation in Austrian data centers. That leaves no question of a legal basis for data transfers to a third country in either model: your data never leaves Austria, backups included. Shared foundation
What is the same in both models
Choosing between the two models is not a choice between first and second class. Every VM is a complete virtual machine with its own kernel: full KVM virtualization with CPU support, virtio devices for disk and network, no shared container kernel – and no overcommitment.
Compute and storage are separate: the server does the computing, the data of your VMs sits in the Ceph cluster, stored redundantly across several servers. If the computing server fails, your VM starts on another one and accesses the same data. That applies to every machine, not only above a certain price bracket.
And how reliable that is in day-to-day operation is not something we claim – we measure it and show it publicly.

Frequently asked questions
Questions before you decide
Can I start with a server and move to the platform later?
Yes, in two ways. In self-service via backup and restore: with the standard backup added, you restore your machine from the backup as a VM inside your own resource pool. Or directly through our support team, which handles the move for you. Starting small therefore does not rule out the switch – you do not have to commit to the larger model from the outset.
How does this differ from a large public cloud?
In three points we can substantiate. Your data sits in Austrian data centers only, backups included – your contractual partner is an Austrian GmbH with no US parent company, jurisdiction Austria. The prices are public on the pricing page and are calculated linearly: €4.50 per core, €1.70 per GB RAM, €0.05 per GB SSD – so the final price is fixed before you order, with no setup fee. And when you call, you reach one of the five founders who appear on the company page by name and face.
Do you also offer colocation or server housing?
No. We do not rent out floor space or racks – we operate the server hardware ourselves, and you rent computing power, storage and network on top of it. If you want to house your own hardware, we are the wrong provider, and we would rather say so up front. What we can do instead: map your existing server landscape as VMs with us, so that your own server room and its hardware cycle become unnecessary. Why does high availability cost no extra with you?
Because it sits in the architecture, not in a tariff. The disks of your VMs are not inside the machine that runs them but on a Ceph cluster replicated across several nodes – if a node fails, the VM starts on another one, on the same disk. This applies in both models and to every machine, not only above a certain price bracket. There is therefore no high-availability option you could add on.
