With the introduction of our new Private Cloud Computing product line – consisting of Platform – Vienna and Server – Vienna – we took an important step: away from rigid package sizes and towards individually configurable resources, maximum flexibility and highly available infrastructure at enterprise level.
This new structure fully replaces our previous Platform/Server Pro and Starter II solutions – and for good reason.
Companies grow and requirements rise – whether for more performance, more storage or higher security requirements. That is exactly where the new product generation comes in: it was designed from the ground up for scalability, flexibility and future requirements.
For many existing customers this raises a question:
What does this mean for existing customer systems?
If you already use a system from the previous product generation, you can of course keep running it – it stays in its current configuration. However: expanding these existing systems is no longer possible.
Why? Quite simply:
- The previous infrastructure was built for fixed, self-contained configurations. The new generation, by contrast, is based on a fully modular and scalable concept – technically, the two cannot be combined.
- Resources such as CPU, RAM or storage can only be scaled in the new, flexible architecture.
